Fees and Registration
Get the botany basics you need to identify plants. Whether you are a natural resources volunteer or specialist, gardener, naturalist, or artist this class provides the fundamentals you need to get started.
Attend a 2 hour session at the Arboretum to learn botanical vocabulary and plant ID skills with the guidance of an Arboretum plant expert.

Sharon Yiesla is a horticulturist of 30 plus years. She has a B.S. in horticulture from Purdue and an M.S. from University of Illinois. She has worked with University Extension in Missouri and with University of Illinois Extension and is currently the plant Knowledge specialist at The Morton Arboretum.
Katrina Lewin has a Bachelor's degree in Ornamental Horticulture from the University of Illinois and has been a horticulturist at The Morton Arboretum since 2004. She enjoys teaching pruning and plant identification classes and is a frequent speaker at local garden clubs.
Notes: The in-person session will include time both indoors and outdoors, so please dress for the weather. Limit 20.
Continuing education: This class fulfills a requirement for the Natural Areas Conservation Training Program. (Learn more about N-ACT.) 2 CPDH credits for educators are available. 2 Continuing Education Credits are available from the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER).
