Fees and Registration
Tap into your creative side with an introductory workshop on nature art. No experience necessary! Enjoy light refreshments as you learn the basics under the encouraging guidance of your instructor. A fun and popular program with something new each season.
Spring Flowers in Colored Pencil (April 4 or 5)
Capture the curves and color of a cheerful spring flower using colored pencils. After class, stroll through the Nature Artists’ Guild Spring Exhibit and get inspired to continue honing your new skills! Instructor: Carrie Carlson
Fall Leaves in Watercolor (November 7 or 8)
Mix and blend colors to create a watercolor painting of a delicate fall leaf. After class, stroll through the Nature Artists’ Guild Holiday Exhibit and get inspired to continue honing your new skills! Registration opens August 2020. Instructor: Carrie Carlson
Carrie Carlson is a Chicagoland native. She earned a BA in Biology and Art from Luther College (Decorah, IA), an MFA in Scientific Illustration from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI), and an MA in Printmaking from Governors State University (University Park, IL). Since 2001, she has been a full-time high school educator in the south suburbs of Chicago where she has split her years between the science and art departments; teaching Drawing, Painting, International Baccalaureate Visual Arts, as well as Biology, Biomedical Sciences, and Horticulture. She also teaches a variety of adult art courses at the Morton Arboretum including linoleum block printing, drawing birds, and field sketching. Carrie exhibits nationally and internationally.
