Course description

Build on foundational skills in this watercolor class with The Morton Arboretum. Learn to lay a wash without streaking or creating a bloom. Develop drybrush techniques to capture the textures of late autumn. Crispy leaves and seed pods from the Arboretum's grounds will be used as specimens.

Suzanne Wegener, freelance artist

Suzanne Wegener is a freelance artist specializing in natural history illustration and education in pencil, pen & ink, watercolor and gouache. She has a degree in Scientific Illustration and teaches regularly in the Chicagoland area.

Course details

  • Prerequisite: This is an intermediate level class. Previous drawing experience required.
  • Notes: Limit 10

Supplies:  You will need to bring the following supplies to class:

  • Pencils: 2H, HB, 2B
  • Tracing paper
  • Princeton brush size 2 round Lauren style

Your instructor will mail paints and paper to those who register at least ten days in advance of the first class. Your confirmation email will include instructions on how to contact your instructor with your address or these items can be picked up at The Morton Arboretum within 7 days of the first class session.
